When we think of futuristic racing at dizzying speeds, we inevitably think of obliterate. A precursor to the genre and a reference to this day, this series continues to delight PlayStation gamers. As a Sony exclusive, we’ll have to settle for copies on the Xbox. That said, some are excellent, like Redoutdeveloped by 34BigThings, an independent Italian studio. The second part has just been released and offers an Xbox Series X | S optimization. On the 4K program a frame rate of 60fps, but also a lot of concerns…
The first Redoutreleased in 2016 was already riddled with Day 1 bugs that several patches had gradually erased. Unfortunately, this suite also suffers from shortcomings that we had to inform you about. In fact, the shortcomings are too obvious to ignore, at least to this day.
All errors listed below are related to the Xbox Series X version:
First off, the music system, presented as revolutionary because it scales with your exploits, is a disaster. It’s ridiculous to the point of being unbearable. It cuts off at any time, changes the volume independently and does not present a melody. The techno music presented here is composed by big names in the genre, such as Giorgio Moroder (midnight To express), but objectively turns out to be broken. Rhythm is a crucial component of the series. An essential vector for the sensory experience the developers are aiming for. Second, the normally silent console emits a rocket sound at startup once a race begins. To the point where we wonder if it won’t let us go! A patch to address these concerns needs to be deployed quicklyat the risk of damaging the developer’s reputation.
Another concern, less serious but frustrating, also needs to be mentioned. The difficulty is one of the shakiest I’ve ever encountered. The boost tutorial at the beginning of the game is extremely difficult. You have to drive at full speed to earn points and move on. But going too fast also means our ship will overheat and explode! And to top it off, there’s a timer! Advice to pass it, try it, explode 10 times but keep that rhythm! Afterwards we get to know the inner workings of driving a car well, but the introduction to the subject is overly brutal. Please patch this for us. Because it is imperative that you go through the tutorial to access the races. And be able to cope with his difficulties.
You might think I’m guessing the responsible studio Redout 2. But this title has enormous potential. It’s spectacular, fast as it’s not allowed and really tempting. But the unfinished throwing continues and it’s incredibly frustrating. Especially when I was waiting for it Redout 2 Celebration! These shortcomings will certainly be ironed out in the coming weeks. But I put myself in the shoes of a player who invests their hard-earned money only to be disappointed. Not by the substance, excellent, but by the form, which objectively and clearly lacks finishes. Good 34BigThings, give us the game we expected from you!
We will inform you about the development of the situation as soon as it is known.
