A new video compares the technical aspects of Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition with those of the original.
On Tuesday, the action-adventure remake Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition was officially released for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
The YouTube channel ElAnalistaDeBits, which specializes in technology analysis, has now investigated how the new edition compares to the original from 2003. The respective PC versions were compared at maximum settings.
The 20th Anniversary Edition scores points above all with new textures that affect almost every aspect of the game, revised lighting (new shadows and ambient occlusion) as well as modeling of the characters and enemies.
While animations or the geometry of the environment have not been changed, which also includes some bugs from the original, the environment has been expanded with new elements, replacing 2D sprites with 3D elements.
Frame rate issues during cutscenes in the original have been fixed. However, vertical synchronization issues can cause stuttering on PC in the new edition.
