Spiritual Successor
That outbreak series is all about reliving terrifying moments from survival horror history, and Outbreak: Contagious Memories takes you back to one of the most important eras. The game is designed to play like a hard-hitting, straight-from-the-90s adventure that focuses on narrative, including optional fixed camera views, strict inventory and resource management, shared item caches, limited consumable items for storage, and more more. Optionally, you can even play with old-school tank controls!
But for those out there who prefer a more modern take on the greats, you can also choose between shoulder or first person shooter views with precise aiming and modern moves! This is also the first title in the outbreak series to have full voice acting throughout the game, and it’s absolutely as cheesy as you’d expect!
Technical retro innovation
Imagine a late 90’s 3D title combined with 2022’s next-gen technology and you’ll have a pretty good idea of where our nightmare is headed. Real-time reflections and shadows, dynamic bleeds that stick to the environment, and more all meet high frame rates and fast load times. The environments will capture you with their dark and moody corridors, along with a vicious thunderstorm raging everywhere. Only you and your flashlight hope to find peace in a world burning down. Your enemies will use every advantage they can find to kill you, leaping from the shadows and surprising you when you feel most secure.
Outbreak: Contagious Memories is the most technically advanced title in the series and takes full advantage of it Xbox Series X|S to support all these great effects while still supporting great framerates, even in the optional two-player co-op splitscreen! But for those of you still waiting for an upgrade, you will find this Xbox One and Xbox One X Versions of the title are tailored for these consoles and still offer fast load times, fast frame rates and more bells and whistles than you think!
Bonus Modes, Unlockables and more!
This undead epidemic is packed with everything you’d expect from ’90s survival horror. Experience the story mode, complete with cheesy voice acting and over-the-top gore, as you work together with fellow survivors to escape a city crumbling around you. Once you survive this nightmare, jump into the unlockable bonus mode Operation: Rabid Wolf, a hardcore arcade experience inspired by classics resident Evil Bonus modes where you smash your way through hordes of undead in a variety of characters, each with their own loadouts, as you fight to rescue survivors scattered throughout the city. Finally, you spend points you earn to unlock gameplay modifiers like damage resistance, unlimited ammo, explosive ammo, and other fun modes that you have to see to believe.
All of the game’s content can be played either solo or in two-player split-screen co-op. In co-op mode, you and your partner are equals – with your own inventories, weapons and limited health. You must work together to outsmart the hordes, solve puzzles, share resources, and survive. If one of you dies, it’s game over and you’ll be thrown back to your last save point, or worse, the beginning of the game!

After being knocked unconscious, Lydia awakens in an abandoned warehouse while other survivors debate leaving her behind. Lydia, not playing the helpless damsel, takes charge and weaves her way through intricate environmental puzzles and hordes of undead to find a way for her and her fellow survivors to escape the city. Resources are tight, is it worth the extra bullet to take down a zombie? Or maybe you should take a risk and try to avoid him. You must think quickly and decide how best to approach each situation.
