With the introduction of next generation consoles, many games are benefiting from optimizations in the Xbox series. Thanks to the additional performance on board, titles published on Xbox One can actually benefit from graphical or technical improvements and thus show themselves in their best light. Today it’s Overwatch’s turn to welcome a next-gen patch!
The latest update to Blizzard’s Shooter is available for a few hours, so it brings an Xbox Series X | S-Patch comes into play. During the troubleshooting or balancing process, the details of this optimization will be posted on the Overwatch forums. To mark the occasion, the game developer offers players three options to meet their expectations:
- resolution : You can play here in the best possible resolution at the expense of the overall picture quality. Xbox Series X displays the game in 4K and 60 frames per second. The Xbox Series S offers 1440p, still 60 fps.
- Balanced : This mode improves the picture quality to the disadvantage of the resolution. The Xbox Series X offers 1440p and the S Series 1080p with 60 frames per second each.
- Frame rate : This third mode gives the image update rate a high priority and achieves 120 frames per second on Xbox Series X and S. With this frame rate, the resolutions for Series XX reach 1440p and for Series S 1080p with a slight loss of image quality.
With this Xbox Series X | S-Optimization lets Blizzard players choose what is most important to them. An approach that has become widespread and allows the formula to be adapted to the characteristics of your television set. With this in mind, we will state in passing that the frame rate mode is reserved for owners of a screen compatible with 120 frames per second, otherwise its contributions may be limited.
