The new title from the Spanish studio WildSphere is determined to give us a hard time.
The video game development in Europe undoubtedly lives one of its best moments. Despite the difficulties caused by the lack of financial support for a sector that moves so much money like video games, the talent of many developers and studios comes to the fore and leaves us with increasingly interesting games. This is the case of Oxide Room 104a horror title encompassed in the genre of body horror films (those with fine giblets in the Hostel style, come on), developed by the Valencian studio wild sphere. A worthy study 11 years of experience in the sector and that they left us with interesting games like Timothy vs the Aliens or Gigantosaurus: The Game.
Oxide Room 104 is essentially a horror game with strong gameplay based on the popular escape room and combined with action in small doses. The plot is simple: due to bad decisions, Matthew ends up with his bones in the typical roadside motel. After waking up naked in the bathtub, realizes that he is injured and without knowing what happened. After a series of events, he realizes that now the only thing that matters is trying to escape from this horrible place in any way possible. The novelty is that despite the fact that we die in one way or another, we will reappear in the b athtub of the room in which we are, with the only difference that everything will not be like before.
The gameplay is certainly interestingwith a combination of mechanisms escape room with puzzles to solve and actions when certain enemies start attacking or hindering you. Completing the puzzles is definitely one of the most positive elements of the game
Also note that the game has been dubbed into Spanish, something not usually seen in indie games of this type and for which WildSphere is to be commended for the effort. Unfortunately, and despite us, the quality of some voices leaves a little to be desired at times and weighs down a bit on what should have been a very positive point. Having said that, the rest of the sounds and music of the game is very good and immerses us in an oppressive and terrifying atmosphere.
Graphically, the game is superb., especially when you know that it is only developed by a few people. The motel presents a dark and oppressive atmosphere that keeps us tense all the time, as well as the scenarios, which deteriorate as we progress. It is true that this can present a certain problem of repetition in certain pieces, but it is a detail that in no way tarnishes the final result. We played it in a Xbox series Xwhere the title has several enhancements such as 4K, Ray-Tracing and 60FPS.
Oxide Room 104 It is a more than interesting game and it leaves us with a good taste in the mouth considering that in Europe more than competent games can be created. The game is not that long, since we can finish it in just a few hours, but the possibility of discovering several endings and finding the best one will make us finish a game and want to start the next one quickly.
