It’s THE gathering of the video game community in France. Paris Games Week has been held in the French capital every autumn since 2010. The SELL (Union of Leisure Software Publishers) is its creator and organizer. The latter formalized the good news on Twitter this Wednesday: The show will return in 2022 after a two-year absence. It takes place from November 2nd to 6th.
Stay until the end of the video, we have a little surprise for you… 😉 pic.twitter.com/VarvpOaP4I

Salons affected by the pandemic
“PGW” could not take place in 2020 and 2021 because it was incompatible with the health measures related to the CoViD-19 pandemic. In hindsight, publishers and players were hoping for the show’s return. The event brings together the whole sphere of video games: developers, manufacturers, professional or non-professional players… Some eSports tournaments have even been organized for a few years.
Hope had initially returned with the announcement that Gamescom would be held next August. The German show, also canceled for two years, will reopen this summer in Cologne under a new formula. It will be a hybrid version, both face to face and online.
What format for this new edition?
The “physical” aspect of Gamescom is explained by the need for publishers to come back to meet their communities. The pandemic will have prevented them from doing so for a total of almost three years. The page “on-line” will allow the usual announcements of the show to be presented through the stream.
Indeed, over the years, Gamescom has become a huge showcase much appreciated by publishers. It still contains never-before-seen footage from many games, making it an event of comparable importance to Summer Game Fest and the defunct E3.
It’s different at Paris Games Week. Until now, the show was never intended to be the setting for big announcements from game developers. It’s only oriented towards the community aspect, demos (playable or not) and merchandising. The 2022 edition of PGW should therefore be similar to the previous ones. Unless SELL wants to use this forced break to try something new.
Then what about Xbox?
Here, too, it is still vague for the time being. Of course, when the show resumes its usual codes, the brand will delight us with a huge booth focused on what matters most: games. And those planned for this year’s end are logically honored. starfield etc STALKER 2 have already been announced for this period. Yes Forza Motorsport gets a release date by then, he might as well join the party.
While waiting for more answers, we can already feel ourselves walking the wide corridors of the Parc des Expositions at the Porte de Versailles. At Xboxsquad, we’re just as excited as you are to find the colorful bleachers and aisles full of players happy to finally be reunited.
