Console Wars tend to be more of a schoolyard on Twitter and the weird internet forum. But the real world continues to move at a different pace from ours. The millions of players misnamed “Casuals” play in another league and leave their money on titles that the more “hardcore” tend to despise. This is an elitist and very common bias, but wrong for businesses looking to make money.
The point is that even though companies compete for the same audience, and that sometimes their marketing strategies seek a little this aggressiveness to mobilize the buyer, in real life behind all this there are people who play and respect each other.
Respect between Xbox and Playstation
This is the case of Phil Spencer, whose hand has never been seen to shake when recommending games from his own competition or directly congratulating it in public. We’ve seen him do it a few times, and not just him, but many protagonists on the Xbox board as well.
Now there is another to add, and that is that Spencer responded to Hermen Hulst by congratulating the entire PlayStation Studios team on a successful year for the Japanese company despite the difficult circumstances.
The teams did a great job under difficult circumstances. Congratulations on a great first year.

This courtesy and respect between the managers of the two brands This is not new, nor exclusive to Spencer. After the release of Psychonauts 2, the Hulst himself congratulated Spencer and Double Fine on releasing the game; therefore in this case there is reciprocity. Also recently, Shuei Yoshida starred in a similar scene congratulating Xbox and Playground Games on the release of Forza Horizon 5.
