Early yesterday morning, we woke up to the news of Shinji Mikami’s departure from Tango Gameworks. The Japanese creator had founded the studio and led it until now, working on games like The Evil Within or Ghostwire: Tokyo. We currently do not know if he has any projects left in his portfolio after the launch of Hi-Fi Rush, surely before his departure we will see the announcement of the arrival of Ghostwire: Tokyo on Xbox and later he will not there will be nothing else about His role.
Obviously, Tango Gameworks will continue to work with Bethesda and with the Xbox Game Studios label. A stage is closing and now the studio has a new path ahead of it that it must straighten out in order to continue to bring games as powerful as those mentioned above but without Mikami at the helm.
Phil Spencer says goodbye to Shinji Mikami
Phil Spencer He didn’t want to miss the chance to wish Mikami the best after announcing h is departure and later he had words for the study.
Thank you Mikami-san for your leadership and great contributions to the industry. Your guidance and input over the past 2 years has been invaluable to me. Looking forward to our continued friendship and looking forward to what is to come from Tango.
Obviously, filling the Mikami void won’t be easy, but Tango Gameworks is already an established studio and will only have to continue the legacy to create new projects that, in the words of Phil Spencer, will not don’t stop there.
