Xbox News Korea has exposed Sony’s business practices and explained how the subscription service bans work.
Xbox News Korea has exposed some of Sony’s business practices. The main issue is the blocking rights that Sony prescribes for other publishers when it comes to subscription services.
Sony skilfully uses its position as the market leader to find out about offers from the competition and, if necessary, to outbid them.
“How does ‘blocking rights’ work? The CapcomDocument show it.”
“Capcom needs to talk to Sony about the subscription service first, and after 120 days, Capcom can talk to Sony’s competitors. Capcom must inform Sony of the price offered by its competitors, and Sony will then have another 60 days to match that amount.”
“Even if Sony is given these opportunities, the only way Capcom can put its game on a Sony competitor’s subscription service like Xbox Game Pass is if Sony decides not to include the game on its own subscription service.”
Xbox News Korea added: “Secretly find out the price offered by the competitors and take the time to adjust the price. No one would say that this is fair competition.”
According to the rules for publishers from the Sony document, it shouldn’t be surprising why, for example, Sony managed to release over 280 games or games with exclusive content for PlayStation alone in 2021, while Microsoft is working on the Xbox about 56 came. Likewise, it shouldn’t surprise anyone why Sony could possibly secure a Silent Hill 2 remake (according to rumors) again as an exclusive time.
With these business practices, Sony finds out what Microsoft is willing to pay – if it comes to that at all and the publishers don’t give in beforehand – and can beat this offer within 60 days, although with the significantly higher installed base as the market leader, you can use all the leverage anyway has in hand.
At 11:00 p.m., Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill: Ascension (Project Sakura) and a Return to Silent Hill Movie will be revealed. So we’ll find out what’s going on with the time-exclusive rumors in less than two hours.
