Babylon’s Fall, exclusive to PlayStation 4|5 consoles, could prove to be Square Enix’s next flop.
After Marvel’s Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy failed to live up to Square Enix’s expectations, Babylon’s Fall may be the next candidate in line. This one also ranks with the developer’s premium AAA games that were denied a hit.
Because the new action role-playing game from developer Platinum Games was officially released yesterday for PlayStation 4 | 5 and PC via Steam and attracted almost no attention.
As reported by tweaktown.com, Babylon’s Fall reached less than 1000 concurrent players when it launched on Steam. Interest on Twitch was also low with around 4000 viewers.
The release of Elden Ring as a strong competitor and the lack of marketing that resulted in the game not having enough exposure and in the minds of gamers could be two of the reasons.
Some might not like the forced online connectivity or microtransactions either. The few and hitherto apparently mostly negative reviews do the rest.
