If PowerWash simulator Launched in July 2022, I initially dismissed it as just another simulation game. When it started topping the charts, trending on social media, and exploding in popularity, I decided to give it a try — and was instantly hooked. After completing the campaign and cleaning up almost every achievement, I ended up having a chat with another fan about the endless collaboration opportunities the game offers and potential expansions I was hoping to see.
Fast forward to today and mine PowerWash simulator Dreams come true as FuturLab and Square Enix have entered into a brilliant partnership to bring together some of the biggest brands in gaming for future power washing opportunities. January provided us with the Tomb Raider Special Packand today we are treated to one of the most unforgettable episodes in the world final fantasy Series. Even more amazing, both packs are available as free add-ons to the base game, which is also included with Game Pass.
The PowerWash Simulator Midgar Special Pack Contains five new levels including Hardy Daytona and Shinra Hauler, Scorpion Sentinel, Seventh Heaven, Mako Energy Exhibit and the Airbuster.
Final Fantasy fans will appreciate some of the subtle details that pay tribute to the original games, but even if you’re not a hardcore fan, you’ll likely still recognize some elements that are symbolic of the series. When I spotted one of these items in the Seventh Heaven level, I didn’t even recognize it right away as it was completely covered in debris and bioresidue (one of the new types of dirt you’ll encounter). Once I did that, I turned off my pressure washer and just stared at it for a minute as if I’d just discovered long lost treasure. I did not expect PowerWash simulator to conjure up such a surreal moment.
TIP: Different equipment configurations (pressure washers, extensions, and nozzles) work better on different types of dirt, and sometimes the best option is a soap nozzle and one of the cleaning fluids for a specific surface type.
Most of the items you wash in the game are static models, but with this add-on the developers have added small animations and interactive elements. It’s a small detail, but a nice touch that adds to the immersion and realism.
The Scorpion Sentinel’s powerwash was a little disconcerting. A giant mechanical scorpion armed with all sorts of deadly weapons, better known as a boss fight Final Fantasy VII Remake now sits in a Shinra warehouse, waiting for you to restore it to shiny, like-new condition. His “eye” scanner darted back and forth, making me wonder if he saw me as his next target.
In another part of the warehouse rests the Airbuster, a massive and fearsome machine that is another boss fight from the game. It’s a fairly simple task, but the Airbuster’s spinning hip gears are one of the cleanest things you’ll clean. You’ll also need to open the chest door panels and the large bomber cannon covers to get to those hard-to-reach crevices.
TIP: If you’re having trouble completing a job and can’t find the remaining areas that need cleaning, go to the job details page on your tablet (Menu button) and it will show you the status of each item. When you select a specific item and close the tablet, the corresponding item flashes on the item, identifying its location.
These are now some of my favorite levels from the game and the expansions. They aren’t the largest, but they are some of the most detailed, as each model features numerous parts, posable joints, and complex weapon systems. The Scorpion Sentinel and Airbuster will undergo a major transformation after you scrub all the dirt off them. It’s like discovering the protective plastic film on your new gaming monitor that you never removed, then peeling it off and feeling like new again.
You can also communicate with well-known characters from the Final Fantasy world, including Heidegger, Tifa Lockhart, and Reeve Tuesti. Your stories will be shared via incoming text messages in a similar format used throughout the base game, and you’ll find out what caused each of these locations and objects to become mired in mud.
The Midgar Special Pack add-on introduces Bio Residue, Mako Residue, and Battle Damage Dirt types unique to this expansion. In a game where all dirt is the enemy and needs to be cleaned up, this isn’t a huge change, but it does add a toxic mud look to some levels – a more appropriate look than some of the more traditional dirt types like moss and mold.
TIP: You can easily identify dirty areas with the Show Dirt feature by pressing right on the d-pad. This will illuminate the affected areas so you know where to focus your pressure washer.
Whether you jump in PowerWash simulator for the first time or a returning player looking for something new to clean that up Midgar Special Pack is some of the best content available for the game and is available today as a free add-on.
