The progression system of the upcoming role-playing game Dragon Age: The Veilguard was heavily influenced by Final Fantasy 10 and Final Fantasy 12.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard, the next installment in BioWare’s popular role-playing series, will be released this fall after almost ten years of waiting.

In an interview with RPG website Game Director Corinne Busche revealed some interesting details about the game’s progression and upgrade mechanics.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard will have a huge skill tree that changes depending on the class you choose. According to Busche, the visuals are based on Final Fantasy 10, and the options are based on Final Fantasy 12.

Each class offers several different progression paths in the form of specializations. To keep everything accessible and clear, the specializations are always placed on the corresponding edge of the grid.

In addition to specializations, each class’s skill tree is divided into three categories, each offering different types of skills and unlocks. For example, with the warrior class, players can choose between defense, weapon, or ability specializations.

Party members also have unique skills. In order not to overwhelm players, however, the skill trees of the teammates are more concentrated and focused on their individual skills.

The maximum character level is 50 and players will have the ability to reset and redistribute their allocated skill points if necessary.
