After the successful trilogy of Hitman, Interactive IO has earned a privileged position as one of the best developers in the industry. And most importantly, in titles focused on action and stealth. The sandbox system of Hitman has brought many joys to the studio, as players have a series of almost limitless possibilities. Complete freedom is one of the main characteristics of Agent 47. However, the studio has already announced that they are working on a seemingly different project. Project 007 marks James Bond’s return to video games, and IO Interactive seems like the right studio for it. Will you follow in the footsteps of Hitman? It looks like some sections do, like open spaces.
007 in an open world?
In principle, this new Project 007 aims to be a totally different game than Hitman, and fans are starting to wonder what this reinvention of the Bond universe might look like. This, yes, stealth and other features could fit perfectly in this new IO Interactive project. Now, a job posting for game development has sparked rumors about the structure of the video game itself. Specifically, the advertisement for the Audio Director position suggests that Project 007 would be a “Open world narrative game”. This is particularly reminiscent of the vast scenes of Hitman.
Other previous announcements also hinted that Agent 007’s game would have a more narrative and cinematic approach. The plot weight will be much greater, although its own elements seen in the games of Hitman. Another curiosity is the one that comes from the job posting for the position of AI programmer. In this, it is stated that the study seeks to bring to life a completely new and state-of-the-art artificial intelligence system.
Finally, another offer from IO Interactive (that of Senior Gameplay Producer) clearly indicates that the studio is creating new mechanics and firing systems for the new video game. This would include prototypes related to melee mechanics. Something that would make sense, since this section was one of the least important in the Hitman saga, which wouldn’t be enough to cover the fights in Project 007.
