Just days after its final title was revealed Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction Ubisoft Forward just provided a nice list of new information. On the menu a cinematic trailer, another one that focuses on the Style of play (see below) and a release date: September 16, 2021.
The new title from Ubisoft Montreal continues as expected, the story began in 2018 with the event “Outbreak” in Rainbow Six Siege. An unknown parasite began to spread after a space capsule crashed in the small town of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. The local population, transformed into a horde of dangerous monsters, was out of control and only Rainbow agents were able to contain the threat. Unfortunately, three years later the parasite got out of control and the time of hunting is over: it’s about survival. This takes place in Alaska, San Francisco and New York in cooperation with three, the central component of this new opus that the studio introduced when the game was announced two years ago.
Hibana, Thermit, Alibi and a good number of the well-known characters from Siege are therefore resuming their service for risky forays into foreign territory. The parasite has evolved, causing contamination of everything it touches, and responding to contact with living things or physical threats. Until possibly an overly adventurous operator is caught … and that’s the salt of the title. What at first glance looks like a classic PvE shooter, there is a “prisoner” mechanic that will surely spice up the recipe. Have a teammate captured and you must find them deep in the enemy’s nest. And until that agent is restored, don’t rely on him or his abilities: he’ll go inactive in the avatar selection screen.. So here we find the explanation of the recently known title of the game: Rainbow Six extraction will make you not to let any teammate down behind you.
At the side of Style of play, the influence of siege is undeniable. The operators of the franchise’s previous game aren’t the only ones making a comeback, in fact. Your iconic gadgets will be there, among other things with the concussion mines of Ela, the rocket launcher from Ash or the mass of Sledge. Reconnaissance drones will again make it possible to analyze the terrain and plan every advance. Knife eliminations, destructible surfaces that can sometimes be reinforced, the “wounded” status of the characters are all mechanics that tactical shooter regulars also find.
On this already known basis Rainbow Six extraction adds a variety of new features. The cards for starters are getting big and leads the player to progress step by step. Divided into three areas of increasing difficulty, they will offer an increasingly deadly bestiary as players near the ultimate goal. The enemies, called Archaeans, will be numerous and organized.
Those in Zone 1 contain the “grunt“Very vulnerable and other minimal threats like Spread, the parasite’s creeping mold that should be avoided to avoid being detected or caught. Zone 2 is where the real things begin: the rapids Rooter won’t let go of a sole that Crusher, slower, explodes at the slightest touch, and the Spikers stay at a distance to better project their thorns. Zone 3 will be there to challenge the most experienced fighters, including the Smashers
In fact, almost all of Extraction’s creatures are directly inspired by it, a sign that Ubisoft has been working on its project for a long time.
Fortunately in the face of this horde of bloodthirsty beasts Rainbow agents will upgrade their equipment and can even upgrade them as the games progress by unlocking special skills. New tracking tools will appear, such as the wrist-mounted proximity detector and the lamp, whose light beam gives away a parasitic presence. The guns are not outdone, with claymores that can kill multiple enemies at once, or grenades that blast from target to target. So when the scenery changes dramatically, the starting formula for a good one is Rainbow Six is present : Survival depends on communication, strategy, and the judicious use of various devices.
Rainbow Six extraction will be released on September 16 for Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One and PC released through the Ubisoft Store, should soon be available for pre-order in the Microsoft Store.
