Rumors suggest that a Virtua Fighter reboot from Sega will be completely redesigned with modern graphics, new characters and more.
In the past few months it has become clear – partly officially, partly rumored – that SEGA has committed itself to reissuing old classics.
As the well-known and usually quite reliable leaker Midori announced via X / Twitter, Virtua Fighter is also being reissued and in this case that probably means that it is a new, modern art style. New characters will also be added to the Virtua Fighter remake. In addition, Midori speaks of crossplay.
SEGA sees this as modern competition for the Street Fighter and Tekken series and also seems to want to base the whole concept on an eSports system.
Midori also clearly says that it is a reboot of the Virtua Fighter series, but the current Virtua Fighter team is involved in the development.
Although Midori has a high hit rate, you should, as always, treat his information with caution until it has been officially confirmed or denied.
