The development studio Riot Games is restarting the planned League of Legends MMO and withdrawing the title from the public for a while.
Riot Games has an update to the long-awaited League of Legends MMO given that the game now moves into the distance. Marc Merrill, co-founder of the studio, explained in detail post on Platform X that the project, which was first announced in December 2020, has been completely realigned in recent years.
“After careful consideration and discussion, we decided to readjust the direction of the project some time ago,” he wrote. “This decision was not easy, but necessary. The original vision just wasn’t innovative enough compared to what you can play today.”
“We don’t think you all want an MMO you’ve played before with a Runeterra lick; To truly live up to Runeterra’s potential and meet the incredibly high expectations of players around the world, we need to make something that truly feels like a significant evolution of the genre.”
The new beginning of the game is now being taken over by Fabrice Condominas, who before his time at Riot Games was involved, among other things, as a senior producer on EA’s Star Wars: Squadrons.
There will be no updates on the title for a long time in order to use the silence to help the team better concentrate on the “incredible amount of work” that now needs to be done.
“Remember, ‘No news is good news,’ because it means we’re working hard and putting our hearts and souls into something we hope you’ll love.”
