Square Enix wants to release future games for the Xbox at the same time.
We’ve known for a long time that the days of PlayStation and Square Enix’s close partnership are over. The Japanese developer announced an aggressive multiplatform strategy months ago, probably because Final Fantasy XVI and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth could not meet high expectations.
Naoki Yoshida, director and producer of Final Fantasy XVI, confirms that multiplatform releases will be made in the future.
In an interview with 4Gamer, Yoshida spoke about FANTASIAN Neo Dimension. The role-playing game is an example of simultaneous releases for Xbox.
Yoshida said: “Of course we want you to play it extensively on other platforms as well. This time we will also release the Xbox Series X/S version at the same time.”
“Going forward, Square Enix titles will increasingly be released simultaneously across all platforms, but as this nears its first release, we want Xbox users to be able to play it too.”
Meanwhile, Xbox fans are waiting for Final Fantasy XVI for Microsoft consoles. It hasn’t been officially announced, but it wasn’t until early October that Yoshida held out hope for a release.
