Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, the next chapter in the strategy game franchise, will be released in February 2025 and is now available for pre-order.
2K and Firaxis Games today announced that Sid Meier’s Civilization VII will be released on February 11, 2025. A new chapter in the storied and iconic strategy game franchise that has sold more than 70 million units worldwide, coming to PlayStation 4|5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and Mac and Linux via Steam.
Sid Meier’s Civilization VII will feature cross-platform play and cross-progression.
Details about Sid Meier’s Civilization VII were shared during gamescom Opening Night Live and the Gameplay Showcase that highlighted the new features. The announcement also introduced Gwendoline Christie (“Game of Thrones,” “Star Wars”) as the game’s new narrator in a captivating live-action trailer.
In Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, players’ strategic choices shape the unique cultural developments of their growing empire. Players assume the role of one of history’s many legendary leaders and control the direction of their history by choosing a new civilization to represent their empire in each age of human advancement.

- Building an empire that will last over time. Players lead their empire through specific eras of human history. Each era is its own rich, nuanced journey, with unique playable civilizations, available resources, land to explore, and even entirely unique gameplay systems that provide a deep and historical strategic experience. Players can achieve significant milestones in science, culture, military, and economy in each era to unlock advantages for the next!
- Develop the Empire at the beginning of each age. To build a legacy that will stand the test of time, players must adapt. Forge their own path through history and reshape their empire at the start of each age, choosing from a pool of new age-relevant options for their civilization based on previous gameplay achievements. Empire development unlocks new gameplay bonuses and unique units to keep the civilization at the height of its power.

Physical versions offer cross-generation eligibility on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Physical versions for PS5 do not offer cross-generation eligibility as Sid Meier’s Civilization VII for PS4 is only available digitally.

It includes early access to the game from February 6, the Tecumseh and Shawnee Pack, the post-launch DLC Crossroads of the World Collection, and the Deluxe Content Pack.
- Sid Meier’s Civilization VII Founders Edition will be available for $119.99 for Nintendo Switch and $129.99 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and for Mac and Linux via Steam. It includes early access to the game starting February 6, the Tecumseh and Shawnee Pack, the post-launch Crossroads of the World Collection DLC, the Deluxe Content Pack, the post-launch Right to Rule Collection DLC, and the Founders Content Pack. The Founders Edition is only available digitally until February 28, 2025.
