To match the developers’ vision, Hitman 3 will be renamed Hitman: World of Assassination later this January.
Today IO Interactive announces important changes to how players will experience, play and purchase Hitman 1-3 in the future.
The most important change might be the renaming of Hitman 3 to “Hitman World of Assassination”.
The name change move helps the developer achieve their vision of creating an ever-expanding game that will evolve over time and form the basis for future Hitman games.
In the future, the games Hitman 1 and 2 will be part of Hitman: World of Assassination.
On its page, the developer writes the following about changes that will come into effect from January 26:
- Hitman 3 becomes Hitman: World of Assassination, which also includes access to Hitman 1 and Hitman 2 through our existing Access Pass system. Hitman 3 owners get a free upgrade to Hitman: World of Assassination for all platforms.
- We’re dramatically simplifying the buying experience for new players. Hitman World of Assassination will be the only option available to start the game.
Both Hitman 3 owners and new players will have the same base content, so there should be less confusion about which edition to buy or how to redeem legacy packs.
The products listed in the digital stores should then also provide clarity, which will be limited to these two products from January 26th:
Hitman: World of Assassination
- Includes: Hitman 3, plus H1 GOTY Access Pass and H2 Standard Access Pass.
- Costs: around $70 dollars or equivalent
Hitman: World of Assassination Deluxe Pack
- Includes: H3 Deluxe Pack, H3 Seven Deadly Sins Collection and H2 Expansion Access Pass.
- Costs: around $30 dollars or equivalent
