Capcom wants to trick players into their expectations for Resident Evil 4 Remake while staying true to the original.
From the remake of the horror game Resident Evil 4 there was a lot of new gameplay recently. Capcom also talked about modernizing the classic. And in this respect, the developers also try to cheat the expectations of the players.
Producer Yokiashi Hirobayashi spoke in an interview about the goal of playing with expectations while staying true to the original of the classic.
“We want the game to feel fresh and familiar at the same time. Our goal is to ‘cheat’ your expectations as much as possible, while of course respecting the feel of the original game.”
Hirobayashi talked about trying to find the right balance in the remake, talking about changing elements, enemy behavior and controls.
“The controls are similar to those of the last Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes. In addition, we worked to reproduce the feel of the original by reassembling elements such as the level design and enemy behavior from the ground up. It took a lot of trial and error to find the right balance, just like the original game did.”
“While there are elements that are different than controlling Leon when moving through the game in pairs and that present a different type of challenge, I think we designed it so players would enjoy those sections become because Ashley is a more compelling standalone character.”
Capcom promised not to remove or change as many parts of the main game for this installment as it did with Resident Evil 3 Remake.
We’ll find out whether the developer has handled the remake of Resident Evil 4 as carefully as fans would like when the game is released on March 24th on Xbox, PlayStation and PC.
