Garfield, the character created by Jim Davis He’s been with us for so many years that he’s become the cartoon that hates Mondays the most. We always shared his hatred for that day and the love of lasagna, of course. Now Garfield, Nermal, Arlene and Odiewill be the eligible characters in the matches of this game. Here we leave you with its analysis.
More of the same but different
Today we have many digital games where we can compete with our friends and family. It’s true that there are franchises, like Nintendo’s, that seem insurmountable, but it’s not about reinventing the wheel. The game we analyzed, distributed by Microids, is not intended to eclipse Mario and his friends, but to be another option to consider. And it is that itWith its 32 mini-games, it’s quite fun, although with many shortcomings.
The objective is roll the dice, advance and get more lasagna than the rest of the players. The progress in the boxes will be accompanied, as always, by some of these mini-games. These are great fun among young and old. Additionally, there is the possibility of using objects, which can modify the rolls of other players or even add numbers to our rolls or decrease that of the opponents. We will achieve this by looping through the cells of the only available table.
During the game we will get more portions of lasagna, coins, we will opt for shortcuts and other situations that, although fun, make the games longer. It’s not that it’s a problem, but it’s true that we’re going to have to make room in our schedule to be able to play an entire board because of the amount of stuff that overextends the standard game.
The AI works well and doesn’t take long to roll dice or perform actions, but it’s still an AI. If we are going to play alone it is not our game, in company it is much more appreciated and in a hurry.
fair diversity
As we mentioned earlier, we only have one board of directors. We would have liked to find at least 3 or 4 different ones to be able to take game strategies and thus give more diversity to the game. Let’s hope that some DLC comes out to increase the playable experience, and if possible, for free.
We will have three game modes, the main one being “Lasagna Race” with his board, “Lasagna Challenge” where we can play the minigames we want directly or the “Lasagna World Tour” where we will choose from a list of selected games.
During what was played to do the analysis, we observed that this was the first game of its kind for the developer. When choosing, the main menu is a little sparse but tedious, hard to describe, but once inside the game things go a little worse if possible. Its interface is not very intuitive and does not specify how things are done and what options we have. We know we rolled the dice and nothing else because the character is moving at devilish speed and we don’t know how, when or why we hit a square.
So much information it just confuses
we have so much misordered information on screen, leading to confusion and not really knowing what we have or can use and what effects they have. Only after rolling the dice will we have some time to decide which item to use for or against.
It is a chaos that will have us going straight to the minigames and praying to get through them. As we mentioned before, AI won’t make things difficult for us, but the real challenge begins in business. We expect the minigames to be fun and varied, in that the game is about more than just meeting.
The design is consistent, the graphics not so much, the music…
Graphically it doesn’t stand out at all, but it’s not in demand either. It does just enough, with its cartoony style, to make it enjoyable, but let’s point out that its interface, when it comes to displaying the on-screen elements we’ve already discussed, is quite deficient. The camera will put you in a bad situation many times and spoil the development of games.
As for his music, it is monotonous and simple. We don’t have fun melodies or backing art or playable styles. It’s a Jazz-style band that will eventually have you putting the Mute and other tracks in the background through Spotify on the console.
In conclusion and personally
At a more than reduced price, we may want to get it, for the simple fact of not having more options on the market. It’s a style of play that has been left aside and that hardly invests in it anymore. Game of Jack Box Games They are simpler but much more fun and cheap.
It’s not a bad game, but its price and few options are enough to not recommend it. Maybe a future episode, with more characters, boards and other aspects, will change our idea. A DLC including all these improvements and free would be perfect for this title which has become somewhat limited.
