Surely when one reads or hears “professional control or competitive control” the image of these controls comes immediately to mind”SFUC”. Controls full of levers, colors, bullet-shaped buttons and other eccentricities that our twisted gamer mind can have, and with exorbitant prices on top of that.
But in recent years, thankfully, these controls have given way to designs that I believe are much more stylish and functional. As the case of first order Elite Xbox and other brands that have added these products to their catalogs. And it is that each time we have become more demanding with the controllers, looking for the one that best suits our way of playing.
In that case, I’m here to tell you that I found the Razer brand controller, called Razer Wolverine v2designed exclusively for Xbox and PC.
First impressions
Well, the first thing you feel when you open the box and hold it in your hands is that you have a “Premium” controller on it, with a soft and comfortable grip, and with a light weight of only 274g front over 345g
This weight is obtained, among other things, by not carrying batteries, since it is connected by USB cable to our console or PC.
Design
In design, this Razer Wolverine v2 reminds us a lot of the aforementioned Xbox Elite model, albeit with a few caveats. The first and most striking is the absence of levers. Razer chose to include two buttons next to the triggers as default, such as the M1 and M2 button. These buttons are fully customizable from the application Razer Controller Setup, being able to assign them the button that most interests us depending on the game we are playing at this moment.
The second is its “L”-shaped design, which, together with the rubber bands included in the handles and the position of the triggers, makes it an ergonomic controller designed to spend long gaming sessions.
Another important detail on its front is the sound configuration button, represented by a circle and located in the lower part of it. This button allows us to adjust, from the remote control, the volume assigned to chat and game, being able to balance between the two. Highlight the button systemin which Razer implemented a keyboard with mechanical push buttons. This allows us to have an automatic response to each keystroke, with its particular “click” as on keyboards.
Finally, on its front, as in the original Xbox controller, we will have a classic cross-shaped crosspiece, also with mechanical pressing, as well as the capture, menu and display buttons, although these two latter are located in different direction.position.
On the back we will only find the buttons to adjust the stroke of the two-position RT and LT triggersa shorter one for games in which we need fast action like FPS and another with the usual stroke of the triggers.
connectivity
As we discussed before we are facing a wired controller, which although for some players this problem is a negative point, for others, especially competitive players, it is something fundamental and that’s probably it with the cable we obtain a much lower latency speed than with a wireless system.
For this we will have a USB cable of about three meters in length, which will give us great freedom of movement and we will not have to be glued to our screens.
To map and adjust our controller we have the application Razer Controller Setup, both for our Xbox and for PC. with this software we can create different game profiles with our favorite configurations both mapping, trigger sensitivity, etc.
For our headphones we will have a 3.5 mm jack port.

conclusion
In conclusion, after almost 10 hours of play, We were pleasantly surprised by this Razer Wolverine v2. The options it offers nothing has to envy its official Xbox counterpart. We are facing a controller who denotes a very good quality materials and good ergonomics. To which must be added its low weight even with cable.
Its extensive customization in terms of configuration this allows us to design a control according to our style of play and that we do not lack levers and other accessories to which the “Pro” controls have accustomed us. And all this for an official price of $119.99.
As we did with your Razer Kaira headset, we thank Razer Europe for providing them to us for this review.
