Nintendo Switch hardware sales beat those of Xbox Series X / S and PlayStation 5 together over the same period.
The Nintendo Switch sold more than the Xbox Series X / S and PlayStation 5 combined over the same period. That goes out of one Ampere Analysis report
For comparison: The Xbox Series X / S sold 1.31 million units in the same period. The PlayStation 5 doubled the Xbox Series X / S numbers and came up with 2.83 million consoles in the same section.
Both consoles are suffering from inventory shortages and unpredictable availability, largely due to the semiconductor shortages caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Scalping has also become a major problem. Foxconn CEO Young Liu believes this shortage will last through mid-2022. Sony doesn’t think they’ll be able to meet demand this year either. That said, Sony and Microsoft aren’t the only ones suffering from the chip shortage. Nintendo has also confirmed that the bottlenecks have affected Switch production, making the sales performance even more impressive.
