SEGA and Tencent have canceled their participation in E3 2023 in Los Angeles.
More and more publishers are withdrawing from E3. It has recently been announced that Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo will not be present at the trade fair in Los Angeles this year. Ubisoft recently confirmed its withdrawal. It’s better to organize a Ubisoft Forward Show.
Now SEGA and Tencent should also turn their backs on the event, as IGN reports. This further fuels the rumors that the fair could soon be canceled altogether.
IGN claims to have learned from PR and publisher circles that no one is really planning to take part in the fair. There also seems to be a lack of communication from organizers ESA and ReedPop. A source even said after Ubisoft pulled out, “There’s no way this show can go ahead.”
This year, the preparations are not supposed to go as usual. For example, many exhibitors already had fixed plans at this point in the year, some of which they were even able to share with the public. This is currently not the case.
Developers and publishers may prefer to focus on Geoff Keighley’s Play Days. The event for media representatives took place over two days last year. This year some are planning to be there again and want to show even more.
