According to the Wall Street Journal, the Japanese publisher Sega is close to an agreement to acquire Finnish company Rovio Entertainment. Talks for a deal that could total $1 billion are well advanced.
According to WSJ sources, the deal is set to close quickly, possibly as early as next week. Of course, if everything goes according to plan.
Rovio is the creator of the franchise Angry Birds. Series that had their heyday on mobile phones but also in the cinema. For its part, Sega is looking to tap into the mobile market, even a defector from the series to home consoles seems to be one of the paths taken!
