As a general rule, when 5 or so years have passed since the introduction of the video game, it may be outdated to the general public, but from time to time we come across timeless articles that know how old the age may be as the best wine. These video games tend to be big winners, but with the huge rise of indies in recent years we have found authentic works of art.
One of those indie games is undoubtedly the Shvel Knight, made by Yacht Club Games. Launched in 2014 and sponsored by the Kickstarter campaign, this 8-bit theme offers an experience in a Super Mario Bros or Castilian style with a well-built history and long and challenging levels.
In the event that this was not enough to be looked at, Sky Knight Knight has managed to develop and improve upon excellent growth: The plague of shadows and Specter of Torment. Both of these extensions prompt us to control two characters drawn from the main adventure and their skill set, which provides a very interesting change to what the basic game offers.
Lord of Cards, the final expansion to be acquired by Shovel Knight, is the one that offers the most changes in terms of its main adventure and that while it continues to provide the platform speaker Joustus, a card game that cannot be the only minigame to be completed, since all the game and its history revolves around it. Is this King of Cards worth it? Keep reading to find out.
Technical section
As we mentioned earlier, Skyvel Knight was conceived from the beginning as an 8-act play inspired by some of the biggest themes of this kind of relationship, and even King of Cards would be no different. Both in terms of contexts, such as the characters' portrayals and images, nothing stands out. But this does not fool you: its clipping section provides amazing care
This care is most evident in the development of standards, with a few secret ways and means of finding all the emblems that contain the standards. The various Joustus houses we will be traveling on or the actual ship that we can use to travel between scenarios will be recorded on the retina.
In terms of the title section of the title, King of Cards contains several songs found on some of the basic frameworks that will accompany us throughout the adventure and perfectly match what we will be seeing on the screen. The game has no words but is perfect translated into Spanish, and again these are overflowing with that Shovel Knight status quo.
Playing
The King of Cards play is undoubtedly its strong point. His previous interpretation, The plague of shadows and Specter of Torment It was a great and very funny campaign, but nonetheless they used a lot of basic game stuff and we can sometimes blame this reworking. But all of this has changed with the King of Cards, and the fact that the boys of Yacht Club Games want to claim the gold title for Shovel Knight. the good is revealed far.
This story is very traditional. We will install King Knight and our aim will be to be nothing and not under the Lord of all. To do this we will need to participate in Joustus, the most widely distributed card game in the world and have won 3 tournament masters. We will have to conquer the various stages in which this game is divided, in addition to winning the various Joustus houses we will visit.
These levels will be much shorter than in other campaigns, but the reality is that they are very exciting and versatile. At the advanced stages of the game there will be stages where we have to attach certain movements and creations in order to be able to improve, providing the most colorful and the best scenarios.
The Knight Knight star's move will be a ramming, and will exceed what we will improve on the game. This will not be a basic control at all, because when we encounter enemies or potential objects our character will turn into a blast, thus opening up more opportunities. With this action we can jump up, kill enemies or hit specific parts of the stage to gain gems or advance.
Along with the tension we will have the opening skills we will use with a strong drum, so we will have to balance it well when we use it. There will be various abilities: an explosive rat, a hammer that will cause enemies to release healthy hearts or bubbles that will temporarily float some of the examples.
Right now we can set a small misconception, and many of these skills can be quite anecdotal. Aside from the aforementioned floating ability that will allow us access to the most remote sites, we didn't use a lot of skills during our game and the fact is it's a shame given the work behind them.
With regard to management, this optional and compulsory design is well designed. While it is true that you see a noticeable difference between the difficulty and equipment of some of them, the fact is that we cannot place too much paste on this feature. Contrary to what happens in other games of this style it will not be in these conflicts where we will suffer the most, and that we will continue to release the hearts of the heart when we beat them.
Another important point of Gameplay, is Joustus. Learning to play won't take us more than a few minutes, and its rules are quite simple. Each card will have one or more arrows that will work to overwhelm the opponents in that way, and our main goal will be to have more treasures held than the opponent at the end of the game. Remember that if we love Joustus we should play as much as possible, and that every time we win we can steal a card from the opponent of the table.
As we say simple game is easily played, but it won't be too difficult to manage the game completely. We will play at certain tables with changed scenarios or we may get cards with special effects, such as some that can move opponents' cards to two squares in one sitting. In addition, some games can be very difficult for us, and our competitors will have special abilities. Fortunately these hard battles are not obligatory so we can choose them if we want to deal with them.
We really liked Joustus, especially because they don't sound like a minigame. For now there will be players who don't like them at all, and even though the most difficult battles aren't forced to advance in the news there will be some who say if we have to play we win and end the game.
Time
King of Cards has a very similar time to other Shovel Knight campaigns. We can finish your main story with a few 4-5 hours, but its time will be greatly increased if we decide to complete the game as a whole. The difficulty isn't crazy, but the specific levels we don't want to pay for can be challenging for many players.
Right now we want to talk specifically about Joustus. As we have said, learning to play will not be difficult because its rules and special conditions will not be too difficult. To complete a game you won't have to play all the possible games, but if we want to finish the game some games will be challenging, and our competitors will have special skills that will enable us to win our brains to win.
Conclusion
As we mentioned earlier, King of Cards is undoubtedly the best growth of Shovel Knight. The work done by Yacht Club Games in its construction is quite impressive, and despite the game's expansion 5 years behind us we still face one of the best platforms in the last 2 thousand years. Although we have some design flaws in certain gameplay elements or final bosses, we are facing a very intriguing topic.
Both those players who already have the Sky Knight and those who have never tried it, we can do nothing but recommend it. For 39.99 euros we can get it Shvel Knight: Treasure Tuff It contains both the basic game and all the content that was released late, so if you don't know what game you're giving yourself for Christmas you already have a solid selection of them.
