The 16-player first-person shooter Starship Troopers: Extermination leaves Early Access and is coming to Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.

Incoming message from the United Citizen Federation: during today’s IGN Live event, Offworld – in collaboration with Sony Pictures Consumer Products – announced that the 16-player FPS Starship Troopers: Annihilation will leave Early Access on October 11th and will also be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The announcement came from none other than Caspar Van Dien, star of the original 1997 Starship Troopers film. He also revealed that his iconic character Johnny Rico is returning to the game and will command players in the new single-player mode. The mode will be part of the 1.0 launch, along with new enemies, locations, and more.

The new game mode is completely focused on the single-player experience and offers 25 different missions and a wealth of PvE scenarios in different environments.

A second chapter is planned for launch. Players will become part of an elite mobile infantry spec-op team and must follow the orders of living legend General John “Johnny” Rico. They will prove themselves against hordes of Archanids with the support of three new NPC allies.

Alongside the announcement, Offworld also shared a new gameplay trailer showcasing the combat and bugs that console players can expect when they become part of the infantry.

There will also be more information about Starship Troopers: Extermination in the coming weeks, including the latest update coming in late June.

The Early Access version of Starship Troopers: Extermination is currently available for $29.99, slightly cheaper than the full launch version.

The game sends players to the distant front lines of a war against the Arachnids. They must work together to complete tasks, loot resources, build and defend a base, and escape to the extraction point.

The battle will be intense, but as experienced warriors of the United Citizen Federation fighting for all of humanity, players will not give an inch to the Arachnids.
