Castlevania veteran and Bloodstained designer Shutaro Ida is stepping down from work due to a cancer diagnosis.
Since 2021, Castlevania veteran and Bloodstained designer Shutaro Ida has been working in the background, in addition to new content for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, on a successor to the popular side-scrolling action role-playing game.
Due to a stroke of fate, Ida now has to stop doing this work, at least for the time being. Like him on his X account announces that he has been diagnosed with cancer:
“I, Shutaro, also known as Curry Boy and Curry Sage, have been diagnosed with cancer and have now begun my battle with the disease.”
“I had already started discussing the sequel to Bloodstained and I have several ideas for the game. From now on I will leave this work in other hands. Thank you for your support.”
Per Retweet wishes Castlevania and Bloodstained producer Koji Igarashi a speedy recovery and at the same time assures that he will take good care of Bloodstained 2 in Ida’s absence:
“So far the DS [Castlevania]series and Bloodstained primarily produced by Director Shutaro. They can truly be called his works.”
“It is a big blow that he is withdrawing from the project, but we will do our best to make up for it. We hope he recovers soon so we can work together again.”
