The simulation niche was until a few years ago an almost unknown genre. Today, many will have discovered Microsoft Flight Simulator for its magnificent marketing campaign and its hyper-realistic graphics section. What many do not know is that this is a saga with a long history, the first release of which takes us all the way to 1982. Others like Combat Ace, Roller coaster creator, The Hospital Theme (to name a few), they also have years and years behind them. Luckily, the growth of the industry and new technologies have made possible the birth of new games with a similar cut, as is the case with the game that concerns us today; SnowRunner.
Who has never dreamed of driving a truck in the United States and more, different types of trucks in the mud? Well, that’s what the latest Saber Interactive simulator offers. SnowRunner follows in the footsteps of its predecessor MudRunner, with significant improvements but retain the essence of an off-road driving experience. I liked the first one a lot, but the second made me fall in love. Stay and I’ll tell you why get into the mud of SnowRunner it is so satisfying.
The forest for you alone (or not)
SnowRunner it is characterized, among other things, by the freedom it grants to the player. Well, a freedom limited by these blockages and unforeseen events that we encounter along the way. Just getting to any point on the map is really a challenge because you never know what kind of roads you can find. And that’s part of the magic of SnowRunner, because if you want to play seriously you will have to risk. That’s when exploration kicks in. Not only is shopping fun, but you can also have a good time exploring the map with a conventional SUV.
If it is already a round game in terms of exploration and variety in its cartography, the title Saber Interactive goes further with its multiplayer. Strengthen the approach of its predecessor, MudRunner, the multiplayer allows you to live the adventure in company. You can enjoy playing alone yes, but a friend can accompany you at any time with another assistance vehicle or vice versa. If you get stuck in the mud, you won’t have to go back to the workshop anymore, as there will be a winch always ready to help you.
SnowRunner is off-road riding like never before
Make no mistake, this simulator is not as user-friendly as it might seem at first glance. SnowRunner it’s a real challenge, in which there is no room for doubt when facing a road, especially if it is unpaved. Learning to play is relatively straightforward, anyone can speed up and brake with the triggers, but knowing when to play is another thing. The off-road driving of this title requires concentration and decision.
The grip must be precise on all types of surfaces, which brings us to the key point of video games, physics. I would say that’s the soul of it SnowRunner, and is they are extremely realistic. Each vehicle’s behavior is unique, but if you add potholes and a muddy or snowy surface to that, things get a lot more complex. Take care of your suspension and other components, or you won’t get very far.
Crossing any area with an SUV is crucial in recognizing the terrain, and based on this we will have to shuffle which truck to use.
