Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, the fourth installment in the Bioware franchise, remains largely a mystery. We know little about this new project, beyond the fact that we will face Solas and most likely visit Tevinter. In addition, we also know little about what awaits us in the game itself, although lately some information has leaked in this regard.
For example, yesterday it was Tom Henderson who said that in this game we couldn’t control our teammates in the missions, which had been very characteristic of the franchise. Instead, we would have a system more similar to that of Mass Effect, that is, we could give orders to our companions while only managing our main character.
Dragon Age: Dreadwolf would have a more direct combat
If this was little known to us, a few hours later a new leak appeared in Reddit, where user Revanchisto posted an in-depth article with new information about the game and especially the combat. His anonymous source provided him with a gameplay video of the title’s alpha phase. This corresponds to a section where the player faces a series of Darkspawn imbued with Red Lily, as well as a Dragon. Also according to the information provided by this user, the fights in Dragon Age: Dreadwolf would be very close to what we saw in God of War (2018), this being the clear reference to create the new system. Plus, he claims it’s completely real-time, with no tactical pauses, and similar to a hack and slash.
On the other hand, the user states that we will continue to have a basic attack and a series of abilities that can be used when we fill a special bar. We can select abilities in a wheel similar and standard to those already seen in other games of the Dragon Age franchise. Moreover, it confirms and supports the information provided by Henderson yesterday, assuring that we will not be able to directly control the members of our group. A group that in the missions will consist of three characters, the main one and the two that we select as companions.
But Revanchisto not only shared data on Dragon Age: Dreadwolf combat, but also provided data on other aspects of the game. For example, he claims that in the video he could see, it is perfectly clear how we can continue to equip pieces of gear in different sections, such as head, body, main and secondary weapons, etc. Moreover, he mentions that the animations have improved considerably, being the best that Bioware has ever made, leaving behind the rigid animations, everything being very fluid. In this regard, he also mentions that the jump is maintained, a feature added in Dragon Age: Inquisition that we can continue to use in this fourth opus.
