One of the bombs of this year was, without a doubt, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II, the new game from Saber Interactive. The title was a bestseller and brought together thousands of players in its different game modes, both PvP and PvE. Additionally, it has an ambitious content expansion plan, which includes a new horde mode.
However, There are no plans to introduce a PvEvP mode into the game at all.
Against AI or other players, but not all at once
An idea that the study itself confirmed is ruled out. In a conversation with MP1 PCgame director Dmitry Grigorenko commented that even though PvEvP is a sort of “Holy Grail“ for game design, There is no point in developing it. The reason? Balance the experience, because on paper it seems very good, but when it comes to developing it, it is not so simple.
This sounds good on paper, but when you actually start trying it, it becomes clear that it’s very annoying to fight other players only to get stabbed in the back by an AI opponent. This is why most games try to ensure that the PvP and PvE aspects don’t cross over as much, i.e. AI opponents are limited to specific locations on maps, etc. This is a complicated mode to implement that would significantly change the experience, so I’m afraid it’s not planned.
On the plus side, players can expect Horde mode current 2025 as part of Season 4. It will also add new operations, enemies, PvP modes and arenas, as well as a Battle Barge expansion.
