The Spanish independent studio Retro Forge Games, in collaboration with the publisher Dear villagers (The Forgotten City, ScourgeBringer), has revealed that Souldiers, its upcoming Metroidvania action RPG adventure with 16-bit visuals, will launch in consoles and PC on May 19.

souldiers combines Metroidvania exploration, challenging combat like souls, RPG customization and precision platforming in a beautiful pixelart universe. Players take the role of scout, mage or archerin the fight for the freedom of Terragaya, a mystical land on the border between life and death.

Each class has its own unique attacks as well as different agility, attack, defense, and health stats. Your character can be further customized through their skill tree. It certainly offers a lot of options for gamers. All this while we enjoy a fantastic artistic section and a world full of secrets. In addition, its authors stated the following:

“Souldiers fuses the mechanics of ’90s side-scrolling action/adventure games with more contemporary game design principles,” says Alberto Hernandez, Creative Director of Retro Forge. “We wanted to capture the speed and readability of classic 2D metroidvanias, with their more modernized intricate combat system allowing players to tailor their hero to their specific playstyle. We think it’s the perfect mix of old and new, so we can’t wait for everyone to play Souldiers when it launches on May 19.”

Undoubtedly, from here we can’t wait to learn more about this release.
