Ubisoft’s first game based on the Star Wars saga is coming to our Xbox.
Star Wars Outlaws, developed by Massive Entertainment and distributed by Ubisoftdives into uncharted territory being this the first open-world action-adventure game set in the Star Wars universe. On this occasion, we forget the Jedi and the Sith to live a sandbox-type experience that invites us to immerse ourselves in the dark and criminal world of our well-known and beloved galaxy. With a mix of familiar and new locations, an interesting narrative and a varied range of game mechanics, Star Wars Outlaws aims to become a remarkable entry in the pantheon of Star Wars games. At the same time, it’s not free from some of the issues typically associated with open-world titles.
History
The story focuses on Kay Vessa young woman who lives in poverty in the underworld of Canto Bight (a setting that we have already seen in the eighth film of the saga) and who must make a journey full of high-risk deceptions, betrayals and theftsThe story is full of classic elements that will delight Star Wars fans: criminal syndicates, the eternal struggle between the Empire and the Rebels, space battles and much more. Kay is a very well-crafted protagonist and her pairing with Nixyour friendly and loyal companion/pet, adds emotional depth and variety to the game. The relationship between Kay and Nix is one of the highlights of the story, providing epic moments as well as strategic gameplay opportunities that we must work on together.
Gameplay
From a gameplay point of view, Star Wars Outlaws offers a rich mix of exploration, combat and stealthThe open-world design allows for a wide variety of activities, from speeder races across vast landscapes to tense shootouts with Imperial forces, which can take place in small environments to heighten the tension. the game does a great job of making each planet look differentwith neon-lit cities, desolate wastelands, and Imperial outposts providing varied environments to explore. Of course, All of them have characteristics of the Star Wars universe.. However, the open world format also comes with some of the usual drawbacks of the genre. The mission structure can be repetitive at times and some side activities, such as treasure hunt missions and resource gathering.they may not be as interesting to the player as the main story missions.
The combat in Star Wars Outlaws is excellent for the most part.. Kay’s arsenal includes blasters, gadgets, and stealth options, allowing for multiple approaches to each encounter. The ability to change tactics on the fly keeps the game fresh and engaging. Nix’s ability to distract enemies or interact with the environment adds another layer of strategymaking each confrontation dynamic. However, The game’s controls can sometimes be impreciseespecially during the most intense battles or when we move in small spaces, like imperial bases, which will trigger the alarm and make enemies arrive everywhere. This problem can cause some frustration, especially in high-risk situations where mistakes can be costly.
In addition to the typical open world, Star Wars Outlaws also features space combat. By piloting Kay’s ship, we can participate in the fight against Imperial forces and other enemies. The controls are intuitive and the feeling of speed and danger in these space battles is undeniable.
On the downside, Star Wars Outlaws’ pacing can be uneven.: Some missions drag on longer than necessary, while others feel rushed. Additionally, while the open-world design offers freedom, it also causes moments where the narrative pace slows down, especially when players have to do secondary activities that are not always rewardingThe game’s ambition is admirable, but there are times when it feels like it’s trying to do too much at once, causing a sense of saturation that detracts from the overall experience. It’s pretty typical of the open world genre, but there were times where I would have liked a more linear experience.
Graphic and sound section
Visually, Star Wars Outlaws grabs your attention from the first minute. The game’s environments are highly detailed, capturing the diverse and rich aesthetics of the Star Wars universe, from bustling cantinas to massive ancient ships to desolate desert planets. The character models are also highly detailed, with expressive faces and smooth animations that bring the characters in the story to life.
Conclusions
In conclusion, Star Wars Outlaws is an interesting and ambitious installment for the Star Wars franchise, offering a rich and addictive experience, which makes it a must-have game for fans of the saga. Its open-world design, engaging narrative, and varied gameplay mechanics make up for occasional pacing issues and repetitive mission structure. Overall, Star Wars Outlaws successfully captures the spirit of the Star Wars universe, even if it sometimes stumbles in its execution.
