Starship Troopers: Earth Command is the new real-time strategy game published by serpentine and developed by The aristocrats. The game is based, as the name suggests, on the Starship Troopers saga of military sci-fi movies. It’s all centered around a conflict between humans and space bugs fighting to eliminate each other.
The original film was directed by Paul Verhoeven (Robocop) who gave the film shocking images and very sharp humor, being a critique of the American military system. It later had two sequels, in addition to an anime one, which didn’t have the same reception and support as the first one. The films and therefore this new video game are based on the books by Robert A. Heinlein published in 1959.
The facts of Starship Troopers: Earth Command take place virtually after the events of the first film. Klendathu battle is over but the battle continues and we have to help humans overcome different missions to keep control of the situation.

If we place our troops behind other platoons, they will barely be able to fire, whereas if they have no one in front of them, they will be able to do so at full strength.
As we progress through the missions we can acquire new types of units and more powerful weapons. During them, if our soldiers survive we can upgrade them they therefore deal more damage to enemies and take more hits before dying. There are characters who act as leadersthat we can assign to specific platoons to make them more effective in combat.
Game control is typical of any RTSwith keyboard and mouse as well as hotkeys, even some keys are similar to other titles in the genre.
As for construction, if we conquer locations on the map we will gain resources that we can use to build different things.. To create fixed turrets, some buildings adjacent to radio towers and, above all, to recruit troops, we need these resources.

The version we were able to test has 10 missions out of the 21 that make up the final version of the game. All the missions we played take place in Kwalasha, a hot and desert world but very rich in key minerals for war.

The aesthetics and humor of the movies come together perfectly in the game. We will see rivers of blood as our troops shoot at insects, bodily fluids, dismemberments, etc. Besides, andThe fascist touch of the army, in the criticism of the United States, which also does not take itself seriously, is left intact. As for the gameplay, it is very fun.with a good variety of troops to choose from, different situations and a significantly faster pace compared to other RTS. The difficulty is also very well balanced, there are complicated situations but nothing frustrating is done.
The graphics and sound section
Graphically, the title is not exciting, even if it is very neat. The whole art theme is very much in line with the movies and we don’t see anything out of place. The lighting is okay and the special effects are nothing to write home about, other than blood and such. We did not observe any slowdown during these 10 games or any crashes, and the game supports ultra-wide resolutions.
The soundtrack is in charge of Kejero, who masterfully adapts the original work of Basil Poledouriswhile respecting the instruments and the rhythms.

Starship Troopers: Earth Command it’s a very fun game, even if graphically there is nothing exciting, it is not at all a game that needs it. The games are relatively short and it is very replayable. There are also a variety of troops to choose from, secondary objectives, upgrades to acquire, and much more.
