According to the latest reports, Xbox Game Studios will now receive support to reach the level of The Coalition with the Unreal Engine.
The Coalition are by far the experts at Microsoft when it comes to using the Unreal Engine. Gears 5 has already seen a performance, with its Hivebusters expansion taking it up a notch.
Behind the scenes, Microsoft seems to want to achieve exactly this level for all major in-house studios that are eligible for Unreal Engine.
According to Jez Corden, Kate Rayner (Vice President and Technical Director) of The Coalition now has her own department and is helping other Xbox game studios reach The Coalition’s level with Unreal Engine.
The soon-to-be-released Gears of War 6 will show how high the level of The Coalition will be with Unreal Engine 5, and the rumor mill is already bubbling away. It’s said that if you think Hellblade II is graphically stunning, then you need to look at Gears of War 6 first and “people aren’t ready for what’s to come.”
Gears of War 6 aims to trigger a real “this is the real next-gen” moment for the current generation of consoles.
When this moment will be is currently uncertain. But rumors are increasing that the new Gears of War game could be revealed as early as June 2024 and will leave gamers worldwide with open mouths.
