Survival Horror lives on with the Outbreak series on Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One

Hey survivors!

The groans of the undead echo as you battle for your life in the city outbreak Series, a collection of titles that pay homage to the classic survival horror experiences of the 90s. From fixed camera angles to over-the-shoulder adventures, lead your group of survivors to safety amid a global undead epidemic. While browsing and managing extremely limited resources, it is up to you to decide when the time is right to fight or flee as you solve puzzles and desperately seek the truth behind the breakout. Oh, and don’t forget to bring a fellow survivor to fight by your side in local split-screen co-op!

Breakout: The New Nightmare Definitive Edition This version is now available for Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S available. It runs on the latest Xbox framework and offers native 4K for Xbox Series X. It has over three years of content, features, fixes, and updates, including massive improvements to control your character while the camera is chasing you. Bring a friend to play in local 2-player split-screen co-op, or play the entire game by yourself as you experience the full campaign, battle the hordes in Onslaught, and experience unique survival horror mini-games in experiment mode .

The nightmare is not over yet. Another title will appear in the series every few weeks until the end of February. You will be exploring an abandoned mansion in Breakout: The Nightmare Chronicles Definitive Editionlooking for your lost daughter in Outbreak: Lost Hope Definitive Edition and fight the hordes in the action packed Outbreak: Epidemic Definitive Edition. Each of these titles is tailored for next-generation hardware, with dramatically improved graphics, performance, and years of functionality and fixes. Plus – brand new achievements are waiting to challenge you in every title!

I created that outbreak Series because I love survival horror, from the tough gameplay to the cheesy storylines and aesthetics. As a solo indie developer, seeing the response and interest in these titles over the past five years has been incredible, and it’s well worth the journey. It’s a genre that has slowly fallen by the wayside as gameplay standards have evolved over the past two decades.

Survival horror is about disempowering the player – removing your agency and forcing you to deal with difficult situations while you are ill-equipped to deal with them. It was important to me to make each title unique – to focus on different eras to bring the gameplay to life. Everything – from tank control (with modern options!) To your inventory – is designed to increase the challenge when you’re fighting to fend off enemies or determine if you’d rather take more ammo or a healing item with you. In the end, your choices will directly affect whether your survivor attains salvation or will be consumed by the hordes. But every time you fail, you will learn more and slowly build the skills necessary to survive.

As a reminder, all titles in the outbreak Series are now available to gamers on Xbox One, but the final editions will only apply to Xbox Series X | S.
