Team Xbox celebrates Disability Pride Month and introduces Microsoft’s Adaptive Controller again in a video.
Thanks to the Xbox Adaptive Controller, many handicapped players are able to play video games that they could not play with a normal controller.
The Disability Pride Month is dedicated to all players and all people with disabilities, aims to increase their reach and show the importance of developing Accessibility features as is the Adaptive Controller.
Brannon Zahand, Senior Gaming Accessibility Program Manager and Microsoft Gaming & Disability Community Member, shared why accessibility is so important in gaming.
“This month we want to encourage everyone to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the many gamers with disabilities around the world who make up the vibrant gaming community, and also to reflect on the people in your life who are also part of the disability community and what you can do to be an ally for them.”
“Disability Pride holds a special place in my heart as not only am I a program manager on our gaming accessibility team, I am also a person with disabilities. Most people wouldn’t think I have a disability at first glance. In fact, I didn’t know I had a disability until I was in my 20s when I was diagnosed with neurodiverse disorder.”
“Today I know that I have had OCD and Sensory Processing Disorder since childhood. And over the years, I’ve suffered new disabilities from illnesses, injuries, and trauma. Chronic pain is now part of my life, as is hearing loss, anxiety and depression associated with complex post-traumatic stress disorder.”

“The reason I am telling all of this is that if you are not already dealing with your own disability, chances are very good that someone close to you is. For all of us at Xbox, it’s a source of pride that we can work to ensure our industry welcomes gamers of all skill levels and backgrounds, that we celebrate and partner with the gaming & disability community, and that we invest in solutions that make sure everyone can play. Because when everyone plays, we all win.”

“Xbox believes everyone should be able to experience the joy, connection, creativity and fun of gaming, and it’s our job to make that possible. In celebration of Disability Pride Month, the Xbox Accessibility Team is excited to announce some new updates, all part of our mission to empower gamers around the world to play the games they want, with the people they want , on the devices they want.”
