Warframe’s first next-generation cinematic content expansion for Xbox Series X | S.

Missionary work
The TennoCon live demo revealed Warframe legend Teshin as a playable character battling the invading Sentients.

We have such a personal, compelling, and dramatic storyline in Warframe that is loved by Tenno (Warframe Player) and in the past few years we’ve added several Cinematic Prologue quests that build on this important moment in Warframe’s history, and we’re almost there. During TennoLive, we went straight to the story that players want more of. We announced our upcoming story-based content expansion, and the highly anticipated Cinematic Quest players have been waiting: The New War, out in 2021.

We revealed it live Warframe‘s global player base, our plans to continue the cinematic storyline that brings players some of the most immersive cinematic content we have ever created. The New War will deliver what players have been waiting for. The Warframe story needs to be told and our upcoming Cinematic Quest will do just that … We will be sharing more information and assets through our Devstreams on Twitch as the launch approaches.

During our live demo, we featured three iconic locations that were either attacked by invading Sentients or were at the heart of the threat itself. For the first time we didn’t play as Warframe, but instead three new playable characters: Corpus soldier Veso, Grineer soldier Kahl-175 and the iconic Dax: Teshin. It’s only a small part of the bigger experience, and there are many Easter eggs and fan theories that can be created from it. We’ve slightly introduced some of the new mechanics and abilities to playing as new characters, as well as some ways players can use weapons they know and love! Grakata!

The demo featured footage of players fighting as Grineer and Corpus for the first time.

Some Warframe‘s most unique content is experienced through cinematic solo quests that reveal more about the player’s history in the world. Warframe Players have asked us for years to build on this main quest line. It took longer than expected, but we’re glad that players are intrigued by what we’ve shown (and what we haven’t shown) and interested in what the next chapter of Warframe might look like, especially on Xbox Series X | S. This will be our first cinematic content expansion to be rolled out on next generation consoles, with a completely improved experience and new tools.

A celebration of important moments from the Old War

Zariman
The very first Tenno look in a Zariman classroom, experienced live in the game.

It’s been a couple of years since we first teased The New War, and we knew players would be excited to see what we’ve come up with. We all agreed that we had to do something special after the demo. This was going to be an important moment for the players, and we wanted to create an immersive, interactive, and intimate experience … to make it truly personal for each of them, just like their plot.

We created a virtual space that showcases key landmarks from the storyline of The Old War and gives players the opportunity to walk around and see invisible memories and stories from their past. For the first time, a tenno-filled Zariman classroom was unveiled. While we hope it provides some answers, we also wanted this preview event to raise more questions and yes, players should pull this thread, there is more and more to come.

Tenno is looking for Cetus
Revealing the operator helps players advance through their personal story.

As revealed during our first major cinematic quest, The Second Dream, in 2015 and today at TennoCon, [SPOILER ALERT] Warframes are actually controlled by orphaned Tenno children called Operators. Since then, we and the community have gone to great lengths to keep it as secret as possible, but now we’re sharing the story and helping everyone catch up and prepare for the New War. With the secret out, we designed a large diorama in our season event to celebrate the occasion by visualizing the relationship between the Tenno and their Warframes.

Simultaneous game updates on all platforms with cross-play

With Cross Save and Cross Play, the Warframe world will better connect players for cooperative online action.

We want Warframe Content that is available to every player, regardless of platform or country, at the same time. Xbox players can now play on the same day as PC and other HD consoles. In the future, all future content – including The New War – will be released at the same time.

We also want players to have the opportunity to play fast and enjoy the thrill and excitement of online cooperative action. The world in the game will be more alive, with more people to connect with to play, chat and more … We have so many planets and so many game modes that crossplay will bring players together and increase the population to cover the entire area extensive Origin system with uninterrupted action.

Cross Save for Pick-Up and Play Progression on Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S.

Warframe is now a cross-generational online game that started with Xbox One and has been updated and expanded with next-gen features from Xbox Series X | S. Warframe is a great game. We’ve been around for 8 great years and we know our players enjoy other great games, not just playing one game all the time. Some players may have an older account from a different platform or console. With the introduction of Cross Save, players can seamlessly continue playing on all platforms, wherever and whenever they want. Players can literally pick up and play where they left off no matter how long ago that was and no matter what platform they were on.

We demonstrated Crossplay and Cross Save during TennoLive, but it’s still in development. When it’s ready to launch, players can get back into the game Warframe and continue their cinematic journey through the plot of The New War.

See you in Warframe, Tenno!
