The extension Sunbreak de Monster Hunter: Ascension is finally available. Without reinventing the formula, it involves many modifications to existing systems as the hunt continues. A new difficulty, variants of the monsters in the bestiary and enough to finally be able to enjoy solo hunting with the Paragon system. Let’s find out all about it!
Take what is there and improve it
Sunbreak completes the base adventure of Monster Hunter: Ascension. The story only begins once you complete the main campaign of the base game. More specifically, it’s about defeating the Narva of Thunder in 7 stars. We are then transported to a new kingdom that also has problems with new monsters appearing. So the game will be updated up to the free update 3, including for example the Gore Magala of Chaos. The formula is clearly not being reinvented. Sunbreak complements existing systems to provide an enriching experience.
That leaves us with more special abilities for weapons, the ability to change skill sets mid-battle, master rank of monsters, new talents for pilpoils, and higher gear ranks. But it is above all the Paragon system that changes the gaming experience the most.
Paragon, or when solos are finally fun
monster hunter is a license that unfolds its full meaning when played with several people. It’s multi-person hunting of huge monsters that allows you to create situations where each character can unleash their full potential. It’s all the more frustrating when you have to test a franchise game on your own. Fights can be horribly long, especially at the Master rank. This is where the Paragon system comes into play.
Once the urgent quest to upgrade from Master 1 to Master 2 rank is completed, you will have access to a new type of mission called Paragon. These can only be played solo, but you will be accompanied by various NPCs whose equipment you can customize. You don’t have to wait for your friends to become available, you can finally enjoy the title solo and no longer spend ages with each monster!
And my complement?
The problem with good games and quality extensions, is that we always want more. If I was able to praise the expansion’s qualities above, it’s clear that it won’t change the overall experience monster hunter. Did you like the game before? You will love it even more
I appreciated:
- The abundance of content
- The model for a pleasant solo!
I liked least:
- No big news
- Few memorable songs
