From the crew behind ‘Double Fine Adventure’ comes a brand new full-length documentary, Amnesia Fortnight, which delves into the fast-paced world of game design and the new challenges that come with turning ideas into reality. Double Fine Productions (known for Psychonauts, Broken age, Brutal legend and more) take an annual two-week break from project work to refresh and recharge your batteries. During these two weeks, part of the team participates in a process called “Amnesia Fortnight”, in which anyone in the studio can come up with a game concept to convert these ideas into working prototypes. In 2019 during the work of the team Psychonauts 2
Double Fine held an “Amnesia Fortnight”. The result? New projects that embody the studio’s ethos of comedic adventure and unique games.
Double Fines stable of artists, programmers, producers and musicians, which is divided into teams and works on a tight deadline, has to come together and overcome the technical hurdles in a game jam bonanza. What follows is insane puppet shows, devious journeys to the underworld, an eerie puzzle game, and great battles on the backs of giant snails as four very different games grow from concept to prototype. Four ideas come in and four games go, and the whole process is detailed in this full-length documentary (by the in-house Crew 2 Player Productions) that pulls the curtain back on game design at one of the most prestigious studios in the business.
The film will premiere in all its glory on Thursday April 29th as a YouTube event.
