Matrix Awakens has been available since December 10, 2021 and is a sensational experience. Halfway between games and cinema, it offers immersion in a virtual universe with captivating realism. The replicas of the actors, the buildings, the circulating cars, everything seems incredibly believable and many of us are already speechless about the result. And if Epic is obviously part of this demo, Matrix Awakens runs on Unreal Engine 5, they aren’t the only magicians who worked on its production. Other studios and teams were involved, including The Coalition, the studio responsible for the Gears franchise!
Since its inception, The Coalition has been recognized for its technical mastery. Like Turn10, the Vancouver studio benefits from above-average skills to tame the tools and get the most out of them. And that’s especially true when it comes to the Unreal Engine.
Additionally, the Canadian teams were able to quickly get their hands on the latest version of Epics Engine and design two technical demos. These were presented earlier this year and highlighted in particular the EU5’s ease of managing lights in a credible and realistic way. So it’s natural that Epic Games turned to the tech beasts at Xbox Game Studios to design Matrix Awakens.
If their commitment isn’t detailed, it’s mostly a matter of outstanding recognition. Sitting at the Unreal Engine table helping them capitalize on it shows the coalition’s capabilities. A technical lightness that has already worked wonders with Gears 5 Hivebusters and that we can hardly wait for the next Gears 6!
If you haven’t tried the Matrix Awakens demo, feel free to dive into it. This is for the Xbox Series X | S available and PS5.
