Bandai Namco released one Interview by Tom HeatonGame Director en the devil in me performed during Gamescom. This answered questions from fans of the horror game series, The Dark Pictures Anthology.
the devil in me will follow in the footsteps of HH Holmes, a serial killer who targets the customers of his hotel, which was famous in the USA in the 1890s. The villain of the story will certainly not be a monster, but embodied by a human. For Tom Heaton, the fact that humans can be capable of such atrocities introduces a new level of horror:
Having a human killer definitely changes things. (…) For me – and this is something very personal – serial killers are the most terrifying thing. Because a human is involved, with a human intelligence that understands you, that maybe has the same motivations as you do, and people can be cruel, they can be sadistic. (…) It’s more psychological, it’s more intimate and ultimately – at least for me – more frightening.
In addition to the serial killer who embodies the fear, the various protagonists embodied in the game also claim a background. This represents an essential aspect of the game for the development team:
They all evolve, they have problems or bugs or things they need to fix in their life and during the game they develop they have theirs [propre arc scénaristique] – as long as you keep them alive.
In addition, as already in man from Medanthe title will have multiple branches and the actions will affect the overall storyline:
What the players do in the game has consequences, it has repercussions (…) if one of the characters is dead, another takes over in this chapter and enters the game (…) or you unlock special levels or levels that can only be under certain circumstances played.
Finally, Heaton says a lot of work has been done in the various branches. In addition, emphasis was placed on the performance of actors and actresses.
