The Division 2: next-gen version rather unlikely

Division, nextgen, version

According to creative director Yannick Banchereau, a next-gen version for Ubisoft shooter The Division 2 is rather unlikely.

More than four years after its release, the shooter The Division 2 continues to receive strong support from Ubisoft. In June, Year 5 Season 1: Broken Wings launches with new content, a new Descent game mode, and more.

Owners of an Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5 are already benefiting from the power of their consoles in the form of 4K resolution and 60 fps. According to Creative Director Yannick Banchereau, a version of The Division 2 that was explicitly developed for next-gen consoles is rather unlikely:

“That’s unlikely because if we really wanted to take full advantage of these platforms it would mean that the game would no longer be available for the old generations as we only have one version of the game available on all platforms.”

“We still have a lot of players playing on all generations and we are not willing to leave them behind and ask them to upgrade. Right now we’re trying to make sure that every time we add something, it runs smoothly on the old generation as well.”
