The Elder Scrolls VI still in pre-production? Really ?

Elder, preproduction, Scrolls

Since its announcement in 2018, The Elder Scrolls VI has clearly been one of the most secretive games in the industry. No information has been shared about it since then and it looks like we’ll have to wait a few more years for the game. However, information about this new opus has been circulating for a few days and making the rounds in certain editorial offices. The title is still in pre-production. Can we reasonably say that this is the case? Probably not, as we’ll quickly explain to you.

A resume that talks about pre-production

This Friday, January 21, user Bogorad shares the resume of a Bethesda employee on Twitter. Using a screenshot, he then displays the LinkedIn profile of Fanny Manset, who is in charge of recruiting at the studio. This one reveals its new features while benefiting from a promotion in January. Or at least a position development. And this description of his activities reveals a mention that catches Bogorad’s attention: “Bethesda Game Studios est […] in pre-production of the highly anticipated The Elder Scrolls VI”.

This information quickly made the rounds on Twitter and was picked up by media outlets such as Gamereactor, Eurogamer and others. For some, this information is all the more credible now that the LinkedIn account is deleted. So this feeds the rumors that this information should not be shared. Except…. that it is nothing.

Fanny Manset’s profile is still accessible professional social network and still shows its position history. Most importantly, this problematic quote is not originally from the Bethesda Game Studios employee. It comes from the studio itself.

But who especially quotes an official speech

Just go to the Bethesda Game Studios website for a quick look at this text. Directly from the homepage where the teams made sure to remember their trip. A text that has been present for many months now and is therefore simply picked up by Fanny Manset when completing her profile. A very “corporate” quote, then, repeating the company’s official speeches only for a staff representative.

Bethesda Game Studios production

So can we say something about Fanny Manset’s profile? Of course not. Teams are currently in full production of Starfield, which is initially scheduled for November 11, 2022. They therefore do their utmost to refine the next RPG down to the smallest detail to ensure a release in the best possible conditions. Once the game is available, a large number of staff will be transferred to The Elder Scrolls VI, which will then be the studio’s priority project. But is it still in pre-production today or not? We’ll have to wait for an official speech to confirm this!
