The Fable Reboot Rumor Is False

Fable, false, Reboot, Rumor

A few hours ago, a rumor about Fable ran like wildfire that assures two things. The first is that the team had to change the graphics engine due to the complexities that the Forzatech engine presents. This rumor is not new It had already been inherited from another who claimed the same and that it said that Microsoft had forced Playground to use a proprietary engine. Something which was already false on its date and which obviously continues to be so now.

Let’s see the reasons why this is wrong. In addition to what I mentioned above, the studio’s latest job offer assures that use will be made of your proprietary engine. And the offer is only a few months old. So unless in the middle of Christmas date of the English study they decided something as complex as to change the whole engine… well, it’s not. Here is the exact quote.

Work with 3D Studio Max and our proprietary custom engine to plan and create global locations that closely support your project vision.

The development of Fable follows the lines of a usual AAA development

The other part of the rumor says that the game is in an unplayable state, so the engine change was necessary. Before continuing I forgot, the source is 4Chan, so that should have solved the puzzle by now. But just in case, let’s continue qualifying. You see, I’ve been following the development of this Fable since it was just a concept, and I’ve been able to chat with people inside the development. But if my opinion is worth the mothers, maybe you’ll pay more attention to Matt Booty, who assured that development was going well and that there was an urge to show things off soon:

Part of my job is to cover for the team, they don’t want to show things until they’re ready, but there’s one episode in particular where every time I see something I’m like “we should show that”. It happens to me with Fable, because there are a lot of incredible things… The team is very clear about everything and we are not going to teach anything until it is ready.

They had a particular passion for IP, and I think they also showed an understanding of what the heart and soul of Fable is, and how they can present it for today’s sensibilities. and not just make a modern version of Fable. There are things I wish I could share and show, because some of the things I’ve seen are very encouraging.

Ultimately, the Playground Games game will have the typical complexities of a AAA game, especially in a team that has never worked on an RPG before. So personally I wouldn’t worry about how development is going, if there was a problem we would already know like it happened with Perfect Dark. It is not the first time that we read rumors that attack the English studyand they always kept silent, I think that’s the best attitude.
