The heart of Chernobyl explains launch failures

Chernobyl, explains, FAILURES, Heart, launch

It promises to fix all the bugs that have occurred so far

STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl has made many players happy over the past two weeks despite launching with a series of major errors and bugs, but the Ukrainian studio clearly knows that there is a lot of work to do in the coming weeks and months.

One of the problems that has emerged is the apparent absence of the “A-Life 2.0” system. promised. This system, which already existed in the first opus, allows all the NPCs in the game to have their own “life” parallel to what the player experiences. Today, one of the game's developers makes a reference to it.

Speaking to IGN, GSC Game World CEO Ievgen Grygorovych revealed that the A-Life 2.0 system was present. In STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl for now, but optimization issues before launch caused it to crash and stop working properly.

First, here's how GSC describes A-Life 2.0:

“Often, the game world only exists in the player's field of vision. A-Life 2.0 is a life simulation system in the Zone. Factions and mutants fight for living space, migrate, capture new locations, or retreat to safer areas. A-Life is what makes the Zone truly alive and unpredictable.

And now, This is kind of what Ievgen Grygorovych had to say about why it doesn't work at launch.:

“This system, to work properly, requires a much larger area for NPCs and requires significantly more memory resources. We were having trouble optimizing. To optimize, you have a lot of things that require your resources and you try to slice things from different elements to optimize the game well. But to make it work, we had to optimize some things, which makes A-Life not work not as it should in many situations. Additionally, we created some bugs not long ago, before launch, with NPCs appearing in the air and falling to the ground. I don't know why this happened. On top of that, we also had some issues with AI behavior.

Ievgen went on to explain that the team is working on further optimization to “bring more resources to the A-Life system.” promising that at some point it will be completely fixed and might even be more “advanced” than expected.

At the moment there is no date, but we already know. STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl will be rolling out more major patches and updates in the near future on Xbox and PC, as well as a content roadmap set to arrive later this month.
