The Knight
Under plated steel lies unspeakable horror. Dead by daylight‘s newest killer, That Knight, is a seasoned tactician from the past who works alongside his three deadly Wardens.
To effectively master this killer, you must adopt a strategic approach, employing clever tactics to outwit survivors and overpowering opponents with well-placed guards. While The Knight comes with 3 character perks – Nowhere to Hide, Hex: Face the Darkness, and hubris – This guide focuses on its power and how to use it.
A new power
the power of the knight, company guardallows players to create patrol paths for her three AI-controlled guards to travel with. Guards are summoned one at a time in an unchanging cyclical rotation, each with a unique specialty. Once summoned, they will spot and hunt down any nearby survivors, alerting you to their presence.
As you create a patrol path, you can command them to destroy breakable walls and pallets, or damage generators. Once they complete their task, they will depart and your power will be recharged.
Know your guards
The knight can summon the help of his three loyal guards, all of whom share his affinity for the hunt: The Butcher, The assassinand The jailer. The order in which they are summoned never changes, but each has its own macabre specialty. In order to stand out as The Knight, it’s important that you become familiar with each one so you can use them effectively.
The Butcher is the first, recognizable by his tall stature, grotesque appearance, and massive hatchet. He specializes in quickly damaging generators and breaking pallets and breakable walls.
The assassin is the second, recognizable by his bald head, leather armor and jagged dagger. He specializes in hunting and moves faster than his compatriots on patrol. Its speed makes it ideal for luring survivors in your path.
The jailer is the third, recognizable by his jagged helmet, plate armor, and flail. This watch is the most thorough, spending the longest time on patrol and intensely searching for survivors in their path.
It’s entirely possible that you’ll be sending out guards frequently during a high-speed Trial, so don’t stress too much if you eventually lose track. You can see which one is next in the cycle by looking at the glowing icon next to your weapon, as each guard has a specific one. The Jailer is a keychain, the Assassin is a blade, and the Carnifex is a skeleton helmet.
Be a commander
Decades of martial prowess have made the knight a formidable warrior who can strike down enemies with ease. While his skills with the blade are undeniable, his wits as a tactician are just as sharp. In fact, it’s a skill you should level up as well, since The Knight’s main skill focuses on multitasking and prediction.
Remember, you are not alone – your guards are meant to work at your side and should be positioned accordingly. They can clarify in your absence, provide important information and possibly confirm suspicions. You can also use them to lock survivors in a favorable area – say a zone without large loops or pallets – by planning your routes accordingly. It’s much more effective at intercepting survivors who are being pursued by a guard than running alongside them along the same path.
Sometimes you know the exact location of a survivor. In these moments you can try to quickly hurt this survivor with your guard. The trick is to end your patrol path right in front of or on top of the survivor so your guard will appear and begin the pursuit immediately. If you’re successful, you can launch an attack of your own and take down a survivor in seconds. This tactic can also prove effective during a chase, provided you can track a survivor’s audio.
Delegate
While it’s beneficial to use your guards to hunt down survivors, it’s important to manage your time efficiently in a Trial. Sometimes survivors will use a particular strategy where they will drop a pallet early to either force you to destroy it or ignore them and continue the hunt on their terms. Luckily, your guards can negate this strategy, as you can use it to break a pallet while actively chasing a survivor – although you’ll slow down for a moment.
You can’t deploy your guard immediately afterwards, so consider assigning a disrupt action when you feel confident enough to end the pursuit. Sometimes you damage a generator just to cause a nearby survivor to emerge from hiding and stop the regression. If you predict they will, you can use your guard to retaliate and punish their stealthy tactics.
The Knight is a unique killer in the list, and if you take the time to understand how to use his abilities, you’ll be able to pull off some impressive plays in a short amount of time. The Knight is now available in Dead by Daylight: Forged in the Mist on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One.
