After the success of IronfleshSince launching in September, the Retroware team has been hard at work charting the path forward and planning major content updates for their modern retro gem!
With the arrival of the first major update on Xbox, you'll have a wealth of new content to sink your teeth into!
Mirror, mirror
One of the most requested new features in the game is Mirror Mode – an option that allows you to walk through each level, but this time to the left! While flipping the x-axis may seem like a trivial update, encountering every enemy, every boss and every level becomes a completely new experience. Players can unlock this mode after completing the game for the first time on any difficulty!
Red rapid fire
A second new feature is the automatic Supercharge upgrade – or the “third” tier of possible weapon upgrades. When the Supercharge upgrade is active for a player, all of that player's projectiles will now be red in color instead of maintaining their blue or green color, regardless of their current upgrade level.
So if a player has one or two weapons that are fully upgraded (they fire green projectiles instead of blue), they can try to grab a third copy of that weapon(s) and be rewarded with an automatic super charge (Rapid Fire)- Upgrade, coupled with a new red color for their projectiles!
My 1UPs, thanks
With this first major update, we're excited to announce that any extra lives players earn while playing through a level will be retained when they start a new level. In other words, you can now keep extra lives if you finish a level with more lives than you had at the start.
Visual improvements to level backgrounds
We've gone back into the background of certain levels and added a few more details that we think will really drive home some of the unspoken narrative points that are relevant to them Ironflesh's story. These new details include: adding a short section where the helicopter shoots the Meat monsters in the forest, adding spikes to the mid-boss on the base, adding surviving pilots to the end credits animation, and explosive impacts from the Meat meteors on the train .
Other updates
In addition to minor backend bug fixes, we also have:
- The standard damage dealt by weapons “E”, “U” and “M” has been improved.
- More meat has been added to various sections of the moon base.
- Certain patterns of the MI-24 helicopter boss fight have been redesigned to make them clearer.
- And slightly changed sections of all levels to be more fair to the player (for example: flesh worms are now killable the second they appear on the base, the flesh maw doors on the train are now killable, and other minor fixes).
We wanted to give players a taste of what we have to offer IronfleshThe future is ours and we can't wait to share even more new content with future updates! Ironflesh is now available!

Iron Meat is a fast-paced run-and-gun shooter that immerses players in a world overrun by The Meat, an all-consuming interdimensional biomass. Using a mix of classic arcade and console mechanics, players fight against mutated victims and machines, dodge hails of bullets and destroy bosses in nine levels of bloodthirsty brutality. As Vadim, fight against The Meat and stop the horrors wrought by scientist Yuri Markov's experiments on the moon. MULTI-PHASE BOSS BATTLES Iron Meat pays homage to classic run-and-gun titles of the past, with intense boss fights divided into multiple phases. With three difficulty levels to choose from, players can test their skills, with a higher difficulty level being rewarded with an even more challenging boss fight. MULTIPLAYER COUCH CO-OP Who says you have to deal with the meat invasion alone? In 2-player couch co-op mode, grab a buddy and work together to leave a trail of bloody, flesh-infected corpses! It's twice the firepower, twice the blood and twice the MEAT! OVER 30 FREEDIAL SKINS You don't have to be a soldier to fight The Meat. Hell, you don't even have to be a HUMAN! With over 30 unlockable skins, players can customize their character to their liking. Each skin comes with interchangeable parts, allowing for greater customization through mixing and matching. Do you want a shark head on a robot body with dinosaur feet? COMPLETED. Maybe half human, half dog? You can bet on it! Or how about a cowboy with a tail and demon wings? Hmm…YES!
