The history of video games dates back several decades, during which we have witnessed the birth of many gaming styles that, today, are true pillars of this industry. There are big names and representatives of many playable genres.
One of the most popular and beloved genres to date is platformers. Perhaps because of its accessibility for fun, or perhaps because of the variety it offers. This time we have the game Nikoderiko: the magical worldwhich precisely contains elements of several of the best titles in the genre.

Technical section
As I mentioned at the beginning, we are facing a new adventure, called Nikoderiko: the magical worldwhich one could say is a mixture of several big names. This becomes obvious when you see this game in action.
Don’t get me wrong, the game is good, but there are influences from titles like Rayman o Donkey Kong. Even if the most obvious is that of Crash Bandicootfrom which it draws part of its artistic conception and its representative colors, which is not negative.
Nicodericus It has its own essence, despite having a style deeply rooted in the aforementioned games. He knows how to differentiate himself from these greats of the genre. In other words, you will feel that already seen to see something new, but at the same time it seems familiar.
The quality of the decorations and their colors are very rich and striking; The game comes in through the eyes, and that makes us very comfortable. Plus, the characters have this charisma and spark that makes them interesting and likable, which makes playing as them a real pleasure. Finally, the enemies are friendly and varied, so they won’t bore you.
All of this makes the game a real delight, and it doesn’t suffer from annoying frame drops. On the contrary, it is very stable and you can enjoy it in 4K. The only thing that perhaps didn’t convince me were the loading times between screens and scenarios, which were a bit long given the scale of the game.
Finally, we can’t forget the soundtrack, and here we have the great David Wise, who brought his magic. If you don’t know this musician, I tell you that he has worked on projects such as Donkey Kong Country, Yooka-Laylee, Battle Toads and more, so you can imagine the quality he brings to the game in this section.

The game has English dubbing and Spanish texts, very correct and eloquent, with jokes and quite pleasant humor. In short, it’s an audiovisual experience that will appeal to all fans of the platform genre.
Gameplay
Nikoderiko: the magical world This is a purely platform game, and that has been made clear. Not only because of the influences he received, but also because of the way he handles each of them and integrates them perfectly into the game, giving us something very fun.
We start with Niko and Luna, two very interesting mammals (and no, they are not marsupials, they are mongooses). They are both searching for legendary treasure on a remote island, a relic that is stolen from them by Grimbald, the villain of the story.
Our mission is to save the island, going through seven phases to do so. This is where our adventure begins, which we can experience alone or in cooperation, since it is possible to play with a friend or family member.
The game mechanics are simple: we jump, attack or dashand the ability to pick up and throw objects. We should also not forget the “bomb jump”, which is very useful. That’s all we need to have fun, and it’s more than enough.
We will go through the levels throughout the seven phases, moving around a map and facing a final challenge in each of them. What we liked about the game was the transition between side-view 2D sections and 3D sections, which feels very natural and adds variety.
The influence of other games is also notable, such as Donkey Kong by retrieving the letters of the first name Niko, or Crash Bandicoot in its gameplay with destructible boxes. There are even references to Rayman by collecting certain items in the levels.
A detail that we really appreciated is the presence of secret areas where we will find objects such as gems, keys, scrolls and coins, necessary to purchase and unlock content in the game. This increases replayability, we inviting you to repeat levels to get everything we left behind.
We will also find mounts that will help us overcome certain scenarios, and we will be able to summon them whenever we have one available, reminding us of the mounts of Donkey Kong Country.

In terms of difficulty, the game offers two modes: easy and normal, the latter being quite accessible. This makes it ideal for the little ones in the house or for those looking for a relaxed experience.
At the end of each phase, we will face a boss, which adds diversity and challenge. Without a doubt, a great incentive for players.
In short, the game has everything you need to have fun. It’s not a particularly demanding adventure, but it lends itself to being enjoyed by all audiences. Their influences are something positive and are very well integrated. I recommend you give it a chance Nikoderiko: the magical world
Duration
It’s difficult to talk about how long a game should last because we don’t all play at the same pace or have the same skills. In the case of Nikoderiko: the magical worldis a game that can be completed quickly.
Indeed, it is very accessible, allowing both children and adults to exceed their levels in a short time. It is possible to complete it in less than 6 hours, although this will depend on what you want to explore and collect.
The game has plenty of collectibles and lends itself to replayability, which can significantly extend your playtime. Additionally, you can play alone or cooperatively, which adds another value.

Conclusion
One of my favorite genres is the platform game, because it has the ability to quickly give us fun. Nikoderiko: the magical world He is a worthy representative of this style.
This title pays homage to games like Rayman, Donkey Kongand the unforgettable Crash Bandicoot. This should not be seen as something negative, on the contrary, these influences make us identify with the game and want it from the first moment.
It’s always nice to have proposals like this, which take us out of routine and allow us to have fun as if we were children, alone or in company. Therefore, I recommend you to give it a chance. Nikoderiko: the magical world.
