Amid the many titles announced for the next PlayStation State of Play, Xbox Era co-founder Nick Baker spoke about the Metro saga. And that’s it 4A Games is confirmed to be working on a new title in the post-apocalyptic series. What’s not so obvious is that this is a VR-only title.
According to insider Kurakasis, it will be called Metro Awakening and the announcement seems to be coming soon. It is rumored that the next State of Play will take place on January 31 or February 1, which seems like an ideal window to showcase the VR game and perhaps get more clues.
4A Games first announced a new single-player title in the series for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC in 2020. It later confirmed that the story would be influenced by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. SO Insider games reported in August 2023 that external playtesting had been carried out.
It’s possible that Metro Awakening could launch this year, with the State of Play announcement revealing a first trailer and hinting at a release window. However, if it is a VR title, will it still release on Xbox Series X/S? In this case there are two options, one is a non-VR adaptation or the other is an alternative game. In any case, Sony exclusivity for part of the title is excluded.
4A Games also said that it is “actively exploring multiplayer concepts that will offer a new way to experience the world of Metro.” His plans were unclear, but he is “committed to more story-driven single-player experiences in the Metro universe that our fans know and love.” Remember to read the Xbox Space to stay informed of all the news on your favorite console,
